We woke up this morning later than we would have liked, but our bodies needed it bad. So badly that the overly hard beds we woke up in this morning, felt like clouds last night when we got in them.
My hair is one giant knot (thank you wind), my nose is burnt, and I need to get more dairy pills, if that’s even a thing here? Did you know those expire quickly? I had one that expired in March and it was g-ross. The pastache croissant I ate was worth it, but I can’t guarantee I’ll be that lucky every time.
Here are some Macarons I bought.

I had one for breakfast while I got ready. As far as getting ready goes, I had dry shampoo for my hair and a brush. For my face I only brought chapstick, my Kelley Baker Brows powder and brush, Mary Kay cc cream with spf 15, and a Mary Kay lip tint in coral. Pro Tip, get you lash extensions and then your eyebrows tinted if you really don’t wanna pack any make up. I definitely wish I remembered my moisturizer though.
We decided to go to Monte Carlo.
Uber to the train station.
Mom dropped her ticket in the bakery and cussed a lot. I laughed a lot.
Got THE most amazing little sandwich ever. It was so simple, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, and olive bread. YUM. And a chocolate beignet. DOUBLE YUM.

We walked alllll the way to the end of the station, walked up the stairs and then took an elevator back down, mom wasn’t thrilled with me haha
We made it on the train!
We sat on the wrong side of the train though to Monaco. If you go to the French Rivera and take a train, be sure to sit on the side facing the water! The VIEWS.
We made it and navigated through the station smoothly.
Why are there not seat covers on toilets in Europe so far? And why does it gross me out, even tho either way, we sit?

They also have this cleaner to wipe the toilet with… I used a lot on every toilet but still ended up just squatting over most of them. Sorry not sorry if it’s TMI, but y’all should know.
We followed the signs to Casino Monte Carlo, featured in two James Bond’s films. It’s beautiful and prestigious and I felt so dignified strolling in. Also, Casino Monte Carlo has seats on their toilets woo! So that shows you what I was really focused on.

Everyone here has a Gucci belt on, my student, Riley, would be so happy haha
But seriously, this is a high profile area and the shopping matches. I couldn’t even afford a price tag in these shops, so we only window shopped as we walked by.

Unrelated, but I saw some young people with a McDonald’s bag yesterday, but I have not seen any fast food places anywhere. Not many snacks or processed food easily available either, even as a tourist. That combined with the amount of walking it seems everyone does here, leaves me seeing how people have the opportunity to be healthier here versus the United States. Slightly canceled out by all the smoking? Maybe.
Mom demanded (politely) that we take a mini train tour. This was her one big item for the day.

We learned a lot about the history of Monaco and saw lots of beautiful sites.
Got off and considered going to the aquarium but instead decided to walk around and look for goodies.
Found chocolate. Well, we had to ask for directions but once we did, I ran! Literally, ran.
My mom laughed at me, a lot.
Bought it all. So. Much. Chocolate. Spent the same amount of money on chocolate as we did on the previous nights’ hotel room. #priorities

Now on a bus to find food.
I’m cradling the chocolate.

Twin oooold ladies with tiiiiiiny scared rat dogs got on after knocking to get in after the doors shut haha
We are still on the bus, riding it to I believe another city and now back lol no idea where we are. We make our way back down the other side of the route and get off somewhere that looks like it has food or something.
It’s a cute little area with lots of shops.

My data isn’t working, so I’m on and off the phone with Verizon forever. I see someone drinking an Aperol Spritz so we make a new line to get one. I drink it while I’m still on and off the phone and make funny faces at my mom.

We find a nearby food court type place and get the most delicious pasta!! We discussed bringing a lot back but didn’t… we may regret that decision.

Oh look, gelato!

We walk back to the train station to catch it back to Nice for the night. We can’t afford to stay in Monaco at the last minute, especially not when the Rolex Masters is going on.

Yooooo this couple won’t stop making out at the train station! It started out cute with little smooches but now she won’t leave this guy alone. Good grief!
A different, strange train experience…
This guy on the train I guess really pissed off this other lady and she kept telling him to watch his wife and not her… he had asked if she was ok, you got a seat? So I’m assuming she was mad at him earlier for getting in her way to get on the train? Who knows. But it ended with her calling him a motherfucker and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
So in that chaos, we didn’t get off at the right exit lol so we had to pay to get a return ticket to go back one stop. At 10:30pm, that was the option we felt better about. Especially considering the hotels over here are fully booked or sketchy if they aren’t… yikes!
We are experts at purchasing bus and train tickets at this point though, and even showed another pair how to use the machine. (Still obviously working on the getting off at the right place haha)

Aaaaaand we can’t find a hotel lol no seriously, without traveling 30 more min orrrr paying $300+. We may sleep at the airport. Real talk. Better than that hotel we stayed at last night.
We considered renting a car and sleeping in it, not even taking it out of the airport ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚
Oh and I just had an espresso out of a vending machine haha yep, that’s where I’m at. We are just hanging at the train station… ok we decided to go back to the airport. Uber is the late night option.
Our Uber driver was very kind and tried to use google translator to communicate more with us. He knew a bit of English, more than we knew of French.
Tried to buy a waffle out of the vending machine. It stole our money. I’m not pleased.
Only have to make it to 5:30 am to get into the delta sky club!
